CDE expand team in The Gulf

CDE Global has announced a new addition to the team with the appointment of Mr. Ruchin Garg as Business Development Manager for The Gulf.
Mr Garg will oversee the development of the CDE project portfolio in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman and joins the CDE team having previously been involved in the development of the CDE Asia mining business in India.

The ability to accept the variety of feed materials was crucial to the success of this project as the dune sand was too fine on its own and needed to be blended with the limestone and gabbro material to produce the specification of sand required to ensure efficient concrete production.
ASCO in Kuwait bought the M2500 mobile washing plant and AquaCycle thickener in response to a surge in demand for concrete sand in Kuwait. ASCO were seeking to differentiate themselves from the other suppliers to concrete manufacturers by producing a washed sand with excess minus 63 micron material efficiently removed. This allowed concrete manufacturers to reduce cement consumption in their concrete manufacturing processes which reduced the overall cost of production.

Riverfront land sale begins at South Brisbane

The first of the three large industrial businesses remaining on the riverfront at South Brisbane, where Brisbane's new city heart is being planned, has finally put their business on the market.
Offers for the 1.5 hectare Hanson Concrete site are being received from potential buyers until December 3.
Brisbane City Council and the State Government announced in August plans for the Kurilpa Riverfront Renewal, extending the Brisbane CBD across the river.
Kurilpa is the biggest renewal project in Brisbane in the past 20 years, since the redevelopment of Teneriffe.
Kurilpa's broad concept is to redevelop 25 hectares of riverside land along one kilometre of South Brisbane land opposite Milton's Suncorp stadium over 20 years.
Public submissions on the draft plan closed on October 4.
At present the land has a number of disused older factories, plus the Parmalat Milk Factory, the ACI Glass factory and the Hanson concrete business, nearer Davies Park.
Hanson, which runs a 1.3 hectare concrete mixing plant and concrete paving business along the riverfront, confirmed it had decided to put its property up for sale.
The plan is the first large scale property to be sold since the draft plan was released.
The sale is being managed by property management consultants, Colliers International.
Brendan Hogan from Colliers International said under the draft plan, buildings could be developed to 20 storeys, although that has yet to be approved by Brisbane City Council.
"Under the draft planning parameters, the site may be developed into a significant mixed use project with maximum building heights of up to 20 storeys," Mr Hogan said.
"Given the size of the holding, the property has the potential for multiple stages of development."
Expressions of interest in two parcels of land in Nott Street off Riverside Drive at South Brisbane are open until December 3, Mr Hogan said.
There are two land parcels at 14 Nott Street covering 9,878sq m and 3,043sq m at 19 Nott Street.
Mr Hogan said Hanson accepted it needed to move from the site to let urban renewal proceed.

"This is one of the last available South Brisbane riverfront sites and is likely to appeal to both local and offshore developers looking to deliver an iconic residential led mixed use project," he said.
"We expect this particular site to draw strong interest from developers."
Brisbane City Council is now reviewing more than 100 submissions and a petition calling for greater public say in the Kurilpa plan, before adapting the draft plan.
The submissions included concepts for a pool, extra parklands, less intensive residential towers and a request for an international design competition.
