Natural Gas Transmission from West to East China, the Second Trunk Line


On June 30th, the eastern section 2nd trunk line of Natural Gas Transmission from West to East China went into operation, marking the completion of the project. The 4,978km-long trunk line is China's first pipeline to transport natural gas from abroad. At 9:05 a.m., the Vice President of CNPC, Mr. Liao Yongyuan commanded the start of the trunk line at Guangzhou station, and then opened the valve together with Li Chunhong, deputy secretary-general of People's Government of Guangdong Province. The ignition of the torch indicated the arrival of natural gas from Turkmenistan to Guangzhou.
The 2nd west-east gas pipeline is a single energy project that draws the heaviest investment in the history of the country, and also boasts the longest distance, the highest transporting pressure and steel grade, and the heaviest workload in the world. The pipeline is a key energy infrastructure construction project and an important project for people's well-being in the country's 11th Five-Year Plan. With a total investment of 142.2 billion CNY, the project includes one trunk line and eight branches which travel 8,704 kilometers through 15 provinces and regions from Xinjiang's Horgos to Shanghai in eastern China, and to the south reaches at Guangzhou and Hong Kong. The pipeline is designed to deliver 30 billion cubic meters of gas per annum, for 30 years.
Operation of the 2nd west-east gas pipeline will help raise the proportion of natural gas in China's primary energy consumption by 1-2%, cutting the use of 76.8 million tons of standard coal, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 130 million tons, sulfur dioxide by 1.44 million tons and dust by 660,000 tons per year. The project also helps to promote the development of dozens of related industries including mechanical, electronics and metallurgical, which draw direct investment of over 300 billion CNY. In addition, the X80 steel line products used for the project, was domestically developed and manufactured, promoting China's pipeline construction to world's leading position.
Passing through snowy mountains, deserts, swamps, as well as more than 60 hills and 190 rivers, the pipeline project underwent extremely arduous construction conditions of various geologies and landscapes. By adopting the advanced project group management mode and utilizing various construction resources on a global scale, CNPC managed to complete construction of the trunk line ahead of schedule. With 50 thousand people working for the project, primary welding qualification rate reaching 98.48%, and 11 billion CNY being saved for the procurement costs by centralized purchasing, we have worked numerous miracles in the world's pipeline construction history. During construction engineering, we paid great attention to environmental protection and land saving, and were granted the title of "Soil and Water Conservation Demonstration Project" by the nation's Ministry of Water Resources.

Vacuum degasser has found wide application in drilling fluids circulating system, forcing the gases(such as, CH4, H2S, etc.) out of entrained drilling fluids(mud) so that mud properties(including density, viscosity) are well preserved.

Techniques to Extend Lifespan of  Oilfield Vacuum Degasser:
1. When the vaccum degasser is rolling, it is necessary to check its vacuum gauge all the time and adjust vacuum degree between 0.03~0.05 to ensure the normal operation.
2. The rotor and suction pipe inside vacuum chamber should be washed clean after the machine is used. Then cut off the electricity, unload the blind(i.e. the oval blind flange), examine the condition of parts, remove the foreign odjects and wash clean the inner wall and rotor with high-pressure water pipe.
3. Weekly cleaning should be performed on the head cover of vacuum chamber to keep dirty stuff from blocking gas passage. The gas collector and bubble separator on head cover can be washed by clean water. While doing these, unconnect the vacuum pipelines, undo the pipeplug and gauge stand, then insert high-pressure water pipe for 3-5 mins each time.
4. The aforementioned cleaning should be carried out every time when drilling work is completed so as to ensure the normal operation for next time.
5. Lubricate the spindle bearing with 250-300mL grease every other month.
6. As far as vaccum pump is concerned, its bearing should be under frequent examination to keep its temperature, after being lubricated, 15-20 degrees higher than the ambient temperature. When it is above 30℃, vacuum gauge should be watched constantly, water in gas/liquid separator replaced promtply and the water temperature kept under 35℃.
7. In wintertime, immediately discharge the standing water inside gas/liquid separator and pump as the precautions of possible frost crack. After vacuum pump is dismantled and repaired, please note the concentricity of coupling.

From Sept 8th to 11th, 2009, the 3-person sales team of KOSUN attended OE Oil Exhibition in Aberdeen, UK. The team was led by Mr. Geng Feng, the GM of KOSUN.

The scientific meeting was held by U.S. Oil Industry Technology Association, which sponsored OTC, the world's largest exhibition in natural gas industry. To share the updated technology and its implementation, the authorities and experts in petroleum and natural gas industry all gathered in this exhibition. The exhibitors were free to attend the conference. Since 1973, British OE Oil Exhibition had been held every two years and it has made a huge impact. The exhibition in 2009 attracted 1,421 exhibitors and 48,565 viewers from 94 countries.

Experiments prove that 1% decrease in solid content will generate at least 10% boost of drilling speed, and the size of solid particles has inversely proportional relationship with their influence on drilling speed.
Solids control system is used to,
1. Remove harmful solid phase and keep the drilling operations going;
2. Keep the drilling process safe and prevent some accidents;
3. Reduce the energy consumption;
4. Reduce the pollution and protect the environment.
Solids control system is constituted of,
1. Three-in-one mud cleaner, drilling fluids shale shaker, vacuum degasser, desander, desilter;
3. And the others, like, centrifugal pump, shear pump, mud agitator, mud gun, mud circulating tank and batching apparatus.
At home, there is not yet a wide variety of drilling mud shale shakers. Therefore, it is necessary to research and develop dry fine-mesh shale shaker, tracked non-shaker analytical apparatus, offshore drilling environment-friendly solids control equipment and versatile supporting mud circulating system to enrich the variety of domestic solids control equipment.
Though, in recent years, great breakthroughs have been made in the study on domestic solids control equipment’s theory and their production & processing level, especially that in the study of theories like, working theories of drilling mud shale shaker and centrifugal cyclones, etc., which has reached or near to the world-class standards, there is still a long way to go between domestic and foreign equipment in terms of performance and lifespan, extending to the materials, processing technology, processing precision and quality of supporting generic devices (such as, electric motor). There is no high-pressure, large-engine solids control equipment available at home now.
