Good china solids control procedures are often ignored in many oil & gas drilling projects. Many people do not understand very well the basic principles of drilling fluids solids control. They persist that drilled solids are evil & insidious. In a short term, drilled solids increasing generally does not reveal their economic impact immediately, and the detrimental effects are also not immediately obvious on the drilling rig. But in a long term, increasing of drilled solids would generate many problems on drilling rigs. So drilled solids need to be removed at the surface by solids control equipment, such as shale shaker, mud cleaner,oilfield drilling mud decanter centrifuge, etc. to reduce the risk.
Drilled solids damage reservoirs, increasing drilling cost, and also create large drilling processing disposal cost. To drill an oil or gas well fast, safely, and under budget, it is necessary to remove the drilled solids which not only include drilling cuttings, but also sloughs that drop from the wall of borehole. Drilling fluids recycling system is the process of cleaning used drilling fluids in Nigeria
Drilling fluids recycling system or solids control system, is the process of cleaning used drilling fluids in a closed loop style of drilling operation. The drilling fluid is pumped from the entry pit to a mud recycling system or solids control unit .
The mud recycling system cleans the drilling fluid in the following stages.
Firstly the fluid is pumped up from the entry pit using the sand guzzler pick up pump to a dump tube and over the first sizing screen removing any of the larger cuttings bought back from down the bore hole.
The drilling fluid and smaller size solids pass through the screen and into the tank. Then the fluid is sucked into the sand trap and into the sand pump which pumps the fluid through the oilfield drilling desander cones. These desander cones are designed to removed solids larger then 20 micron through centrifugal force.
The larger size solids are dumped out of the bottom of the cones and the cleaner fluid passes through the top of the sand cones and back into the tank ready for use.
When the fluid has passed through the various cleaning stages it is clean enough to be used again by the drilling unit and the process starts over again in a continuous loop.
Mud recycling is the preferred method when large volumes of drilling fluids are required and or access to water is restricted or limited.

The feed slurry of solids and liquid is fed through the inlet at a high velocity obtained by steady pressure of twenty-five. The high velocity transmitted to the feed section creates a spinning velocity and resultingdecanter centrifugal forces.The vortex finder causes the stream to spiral downward towards the hydro cyclone wall,in a downward spiraling stream.
The solids seperate according to size and weight particles.In the density range of particles in drilling fluids ,size is of far more influence than the variations in density so that basically the biggest particles settle first and fattest.
The cone section narrows ,inner layer of the downward spiining liquid turn back toward the overflow because of the increasing centrifugal forces near the center.
How desilter work
Desilter is consisted of desilter hydrocyclones, usually it is 4” cyclone. The number of the cone can be customized according to the treating capacity you need.
There are two types desilter, one is with underflow shaker, the other one is without shaker.
